Registration for the J-Net Summer Workshop in Edinburgh on Saturday, September 7 is now open! It will take place in the Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue (16 St Mary’s Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1SU) just off the Royal Mile and only a few minutes’ walk from Waverley Station, and we’re planning a full programme for participants.
The speakers will be Yoshiro Shibasaki on life as a Japanese resident of Scotland; Keiko Takami leading a hands-on translation workshop; Matt Young on how to deal with those commonly encountered tricky terms we all hate; Maha El-Metwally of the University of Surrey on remote interpreting; and Sarah Shimmen of MH Scot Workplace Wellbeing on mental health for freelancers.
The cost will be £45 for J-Net members for early-bird registration until midnight on July 31, after which it will rise to £55. The cost for non-members will be £65. Students are eligible for a 50% discount.
Please contact Atsuko at to register.
To add to your enjoyment of the workshop we are also planning a zenysasai meal the night before and (if the weather is good) a guided walk on the Sunday. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to visit Edinburgh, and look forward to seeing you there!
